I heard frogs for the first time this year Sunday night around 10:30 pm. 02/08/09. We had the windows open for some fresh air. I consider that a good sign. I am sure we will have more cold weather but I think we are over the hump.
I have seen bluebirds showing up within the last week. We need to replace some bluebird houses, maybe one or two. Bluebirds are territorial and will fight each other like the dickens if you place the houses closer than 200 yards apart.
If you go to the Charlotte Market, check in the craft barn for bluebird houses. There are 3-4 guys there selling blue bird houses for less than you can make them yourself.
