Farm Probed like a Prostate Exam

Last Thursday, we had a National Guard helicopter buzzing the farm at low levels looking for pot plants and scaring the chickens. They circled the barn multiple times flew the field edges and burned off no telling how many gallons of tax-payer funded aviation fuel. Glad the state and county have money for that. Never mind that they are firing teachers and teacher aide’s and the the kids are being served the same food fed in prisons to reduce “educational” costs….

Carl of Carlea Farms said they flew his farm two miles down the road also.

A few years ago, we had a NC State Patrol two-seater helicopter hover over our okra patch for at least 5 minutes. 8 rows 200′ feet long, next to our driveway and the public road. Taxpayer money well spent no doubt…

I just find it offensive that the courts have ruled that aerial fly overs do not violate the 4th amendment of the Constitution detailing that the people should be not be subject to illegal searches.

Not that we grow anything illegal… yet. HR 875, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 may change that. We may be growing natural decorative art… not intended for human or animal consumption….

That sounds silly I guess. We buy raw milk from a neighbor who is certified organic and has a pet food manufacturing license. She has to label her milk as unfit for human consumption and sell it as pet food milk. The raw milk is awesome. Alive.

Check out what CA. farmers are faced with in the name of food safety.
